March 6 – May 31

Exhibition: Religion in Gardner, Past and Present.

Faith communities display artifacts and memorabilia that show history and ministry (both local and beyond).

Exhibit hours 1-4 p.m., Wednesday – Sunday.

Members free, non-members $3.

March 7 – “Antiques Appraisal Day” featuring fine art and antiques appraiser Paul Royka. He is a nationally known appraiser, author of several books and seen on TV! Appraisals: 1st item free and then $5 per item. Wine and cheese reception from 6-7 p.m. Appraisals from 7-9 p.m. Members free. non-members $3.

March 21 – Irish American Step Dancers with Anne O’Connell Boucher, Instructor. The dancers range in age from 5 and older dancing jigs, reels, trebles and more.Wine and cheese reception from 6-7 p.m.

April 4 – History of Mount Wachusett Community College with Vincent Ialenti, Dean of Technology.

This is a fast-moving visual tribute to MWCC celebrating its 50th anniversary.

April 18 - Science Magic, a Boston Museum of Science Presentation. Ever wonder how magic tricks really work? This program investigates the science behind the “magic” of several classic magic tricks. Click image for more information.

May 9 – History of the Gardner Fire Dept. with Captain Dick Ares. This is a tribute to the 180th year anniversary of the Fire Dept. The program takes the audience from the days of bucket brigades through to today.

May 23 – “Real Townies Are Always Home,” with award-winning author and Boston Phoenix columnist Sally Cragin. The lecture is a humor piece and is both fun and funny for participants. It contains original stories about life in New England. The star is Hollis the Mountain Man.

June 5 – September 28. Exhibition: The Gardner Music Scene. The display includes photographs, musical instruments and memorabilia that brings Gardner’s musical heyday to life.

Exhibit hours 1-4 p.m., Wednesday – Sunday.

Members free, non-members $3.

June 6 – Hervey Bowden Memorial Speech/Essay Contest sponsored by Raymond H. Fredette. Gardner High School students explore local and regional history topics. The winning research paper receives a $250 award.

Pizza reception from 6-7 p.m.

Reading of papers and award presentation from 7-8:30 p.m.

Members free, non-members free.

May 8 - Annual Meeting

Mark your calendars for the Annual Meeting at 7pm at the Museum. No separate meeting notice will be mailed ~ Janet Stankaitis, Recording Secretary.

June 15 – Yard Sale

The Yard Sale runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Donations of antiques, jewelry and attic treasures are sought. To donate lightly used items call the Coordinator at 978-632-3277.

June 20 - Native American Program, a Fruitlands Museum Presentation.

"Climate, Resources, and Lifeways: Regional differences and the cultural choices of native people." Based on Fruitlands’ Native American collection of genuine artifacts and modern reproductions.

Lecture from 7-8 p.m.

Members $3, non-members $5.

June 22 - Afternoon Tea Party (afternoon social) from noon to 3 p.m.

The tea party social features beverages, finger sandwiches and desserts. There is live music accompanying the festivities.

Seatings are at 12 and 1:30

Reservations recommended.

Adults $6, children $3.

Attention: Membership

The “21 Club” has been active for the past 17 years. It is entering its 18th year. Membership involves donating $250.00 yearly for 10 years. The contribution is non-binding. Membership in the “21 Club” collectively averages $5,000.00 yearly. These dues, along with the dues in all other categories, help keep the Museum financially stable. Please consider joining the “21 Club.
