What Does Chair City Mean Today?

thanks to a Mass Humanities grant and a grant from Community Health Network of North Central Massachusetts, this event on Sept 7 (fall exhibit opening reception & panel discussion - see flyer) will be free of charge! Reservation is still required though.

The panel discussion that follows the opening reception will explore what it means to be the “Chair City” after most of our furniture factories have closed and been torn down. Panelists include Nichols & Stone workers, Dr. Kate Dudley (Professor of Anthropology and American Studies at Yale University), and Tim McGuire who runs the woodshop at Spark Maker Space in CT. Moderated by Tracie Pouliot (director of the Chair City Community Workshop).
